Miss Catherine H. Waterman












(Born: April 12, 1812 - Died: 1897)

American poet. Catherine Harbeson Waterman was born in Philadelphia, PA. She married George Jojan Esling, a mercantile marine captain, in 1840. After her marriage, she continued to contribute to periodicals under her maiden name. Captain Esling died in Rio de Janeiro in 1844, after which she moved back to Philadelphia, where she remained for the rest of her life.
