the Messenger, without making the two works too similar in their critical departments, for separate publications." No direct printing or MS of Poe's letter is known. The Minor letter is quoted in Parke-Bernet Galleries sale, 15-16 January 1941, item 321. The $10 to which Minor refers is probably documented by the second of four receipts Poe signed to Bisco, a receipt dated April 7, 1845.
