This serialized satirical fantasy was
attributed by Arthur
Hobson Quinn as possibly being by Poe. Quinn's statement is that "the
evidence for Poe's authorship is largely internal" (see A. H. Quinn,
pp. 757-761). Thomas Ollive
Mabbott, however, felt that the author was more likely to be Nathan
Covington Brooks, who was one of the editors of the American Museum
(see Heartman & Canny, p. 145).
