We have skimmed over the surface of these volumes and found them possessed of a fair claim upon our admiration. A sparkling dash of fancy, sentiment and wit intermingled, — clothed in rich language, and pink’d off with the latest gloss of transcendentalism, with little regard to definite plot or story-like dènouement, with an occasional burst of the “grotesque” admirably sustained, recommend these Tales to those who hail with avidity a novelty in the literary mart
