Mr. William F. Gill, who has brought out another edition of the “Life of Poe,” says, apropos of Mr. Ingram's recent attack, that he does not and never did claim to be the first to vindicate Poe's memory. That honor, he writes, belongs to Mr. George R. Graham. It is to the point to say that Mr. Gill in his “Life of Poe” has laid bare the animus of Griswold, whose defamations had so long been accepted as fact.
