Notes:

This table of contents reflects the edition of 1850, although the dot leaders used in the original have been omitted due to limitations of XHTML. The contents of the various volumes changed with the 1853 edition, with some additional material moved from volume III to volumes I and II. It should be noted that the editor or the typesetter added an extraneous “s” to the word “Adventure” in the title of the tale about Hans Pfaall. This error was not continued in the text itself or the page headings. The title as it appears in the modified version of Poe's Tales of the Grotesque and Arabesque (renamed Phantasy Pieces) gives no authority for the “s.” The error has been repeated here for the sake of maintaining historical integrity with the original sources.
