The original color for the cover was “salmon.”

A reduced facsimile of the cover may be found in John W. Roberston's Bibliography of the Writings of Edgar A. Poe (1934) , facing page 208. On the reverse is a reproduction of the initial page of the text for Poe's story “The Tell-Tale Heart,” although the color of the paper, while correct for the cover, is incorrect for an the contents of the magazine. It also omits the poem “The Longing,” by W. W. Story, which appears in the original at the top of the same page.
