Text: Edgar Allan Poe to Charles Astor Bristed — January 17, 1847 (LTR-247)

Fordham — Jan. 17 — 47.

Dear Sir,

Permit me to thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for the ten dollars which you were so considerate and generous as so send me through Mr. Colton. I shall now cease to regard my difficulties as misfortune, since they have shown me that I possessed such friends.

With the most sincere gratitude and esteem,

Yr Ob. St
Edgar A. Poe.

To Charles A Bristed Esqr
