POE'S WORKS. — We have received the third volume of Dr. Griswold's edition of the works of EDGAR A. POE, published at New York by Harper & Brothers [[J. S. Redfield]]. — It is, we think, even more readable than its two predecessors, which found a wide demand. Prefixed to the volume is a very interesting memoir of Poe, by the editor, who has performed his rather delicate task with proper kindness for the deceased author, and due appreciation of his genius, but with a just perception of his numerous faults. This volume contains some of Poe's best critical essays, including his remarkable lecture on the Poetic Principle, and his admirable article on Mrs. Osgood, the most lovely of American poetesses.
For sale by J. W. RANDOLPH.

Notes:
Harper and Brothers did not print a collected edition of Poe's works until about 1910. They had been the publishers of Poe's The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym in 1838.
