THE WORKS OF EDGAR ALLEN [[ALLAN]] POE, with a memoir by Rufus W. Griswold, and notices of his life and genius by N. P. Willis and J. R. Lowell, in 4 volumes. Vol. IV., 12 mo. Redfield, New York.
The present volume, which completes the works of Poe, is chiefly occupied with the narrative of the adventures of Arthur Gordon Pym, a nautical story of great power, and one of the longest of his fictions. Among the other articles are Maelzel's Chess Player, an exceedingly ingenious sketch, which, in its day, attracted much attention; The Literary life of Thingum Bob, Esq; Diddling considered as one of the exact sciences; How to write a Blackwood article, &c.; which have been considered among the most perfect and successful of his performances.
