[page 2, column 4, continued:]

The Gentleman's Magazine, published at Philadelphia, is one of the most spirited of the monthly publications. It is edited by Mr. Burton, the Comedian, assisted by E. A. Poe, Esq., favorably known as the early editor of the Southern Messenger. The number for September contains a portrait on steel of Richard Pearce Smith, one of the literary gentlemen of Philadelphia, and a wood engraving of a gymnasium.
